What is candelilla wax?

Taken from the leaves of the Candelilla shrub, candelilla wax is commonly used in many products today. This powerful shrub, native to Mexico, has become a major part of human healing and self-care, being widely used in the health and beauty industry. Candililla wax is a natural vegan substitute to bees wax and largely used for its consistency and moisturising properties in hair and skin balms.

Candelilla Wax For Hair: Benefits

  • Bursting with vitamins and minerals including iron, calcium, magnesium and vitamin E.
  • Candelilla wax helps to prevent moisture loss in the hair, building up a natural barrier helping to reduce frizz and add shine.
  • It can also help to add some extra gloss and smoothness to your hair.
  • Can be used for styling the hair, enhancing thickness and texture.

Candelilla wax is very solid in its raw form. If you are considering using this on your hair we recommend melting it down and adding some oils to the wax to make it more manageable to work with. You will find that by adding oils to the wax you will create more of a soft and smoother balm that can be applied to the hair as you wish. Be careful not to overuse the product as this can result in your hair feeling or looking greasy.
