What is biotin?

Biotin is part of the key Vitamin B family of vitamins and is sometimes referred to as Vitamin H. Our bodies rely upon biotin to help manage nutrients and turn them into energy. If you ever pay attention to hair and skin products, too, you’ll see that biotin is regularly mentioned as a booster for hair and skin health.

Biotin has been linked to hair health for years, but how realistic are these claims? Could using biotin for hair really help produce the kinds of benefits you are aiming for?

Biotin For Hair: Benefits

Biotin for hair has been a commonly used solution by many people for years. It’s become a bit of a go-to solution for many people who want to find a reliable way to help keep their hair in top condition. Biotin is a key ingredient found in many hair and nail supplements, however why is this vitamin so beneficial to us when it comes to the health of our hair?

  • Some studies have linked the regular use of biotin to increased hair growth and strength.
  • Like most B vitamins, biotin is linked to being a key part of improving hair density and reducing hair loss.
  • It is important to keep up with recommended biotin intake as having a biotin deficiency has been linked to hair loss.

While more research is needed into the benefits of biotin for hair, it’s been shown to have some excellent long-term benefits. For now, the evidence has to become more pronounced before we could freely say that biotin is a key part of hair health.

Biotin Side Effects

You should always look to make sure that you are suitable for taking biotin supplements or eating more biotin-rich foods. You should always look to try and make sure that you don’t take too much biotin, too. Though it’s a water-soluble vitamin, meaning that it’s very hard to ‘overdose’ on biotin, it’s always important to be vigilant when it comes to caring for your health with biotin.

As ever, speak to a medical professional before you start using this particular product on your body or your hair.
